Hi,

I recently purchased a second hand hilti to replace my destroyed SDS drill.

I've noticed that when i remove the SDS Max bits, they seem to have a fair amount of oil on them.

Is this normal or could it do with a service?

I feel a bit stupid asking this question, but my bosch SDS never did it.

SDS drills need lubricating on a regular basis, a good dollop on the shank is a must to keep it in good order.

Could this be a clue as to why your last one went south ;)

Hilti have a good customer care number on there website if you need more info.

No, the drill literally went south (12ft) then ripped itself to bits on a later job :D

I'm aware of the need for lubrication, but the amount in this suggests oil leaking into the chuck.

I think i'll take it into hilti and have it serviced.

Its a 2007 drill so hopefully it wont cost much.
