HIRED SCAFFOLDING - LADDER STOLEN - WHO IS LIABLE?

like i say, I know i messed up, but if I'd been told I was liable from the start I'd have taken measures to secure the ladder. I don't lack common sense, just information.

I always lock up my ladders not only from them stolen but also to stop people gaining access to open windows.

The OP still hasn't stated whether or not he signed a written hire agreement - and if he did, what the T's & C's on it said about liability.

If he DIDN'T sign anything, the hire company could have an uphill struggle even proving that he hired the gear in the first place!
