Hotpoint MWHZ331 built in combination oven. 4 years old. Here are the symptoms:

1. Sometimes when cooking the actual temperature display fluctuates showing for example showing 140, 160, 180, in just a few seconds.

2. The interior light works sometimes then not others, once when the door was opened it flashed on and off at 1 second intervals accompanied by a clicking noise. (Think car indicators)

3. When the oven is off, sometimes the temperature display digital display shows “err” sometimes constantly, sometimes it flashes on and off. When the message is displayed, none of the controls work.

4. The fan oven elements only last about 18 months, we are on the third set now.

A Hotpoint engineer came out but as it worked when he arrived couldn’t do anything. Anyone any ideas. Obviously it’s designed to report a fault with the error message, so I’m hoping someone somewhere will know what it’s trying to say.
