We've had a Hotpoint WF540 washing machine for about 3 years and recently we've noticed it will stop dead during a cycle and just sit there doing nothing. All lights remain as they were before it stopped and it's like someone has come along and pressed an invisible pause button.
Turning the machine off, and then on again from the on/off button at the front resumes the cycle from where it left off and providing it doesn't self pause again will continue to complete the wash through to the end.
I'm a bit stumped as to what we can do. Initial thoughts are it could be a faulty sensor? Or my wife is convinced it's something to do with the on/off button as it does look slightly depressed(bit like us if we can't fix it!).
It does seem to play up more during a 'mini load' wash than a normal straight wash, sometimes having to be unpaused half a dozen or so times.
Any pointers as to what it could be would be appreciated.
