I have bought matt emulsion because where I get my paint didn't have the colour I wanted in silk. Is their anything I could add to the paint to give it a silk finish????? or do I have to make do with a matt finish? which wouldn't be a big problem, its just that I prefer silk :)

Take it back and try somewhere else..or you can give it a coat of water based satin glaze...available from Johnstones.

Agree with Zampa, take the paint back - why should you have to mess about and pay more because they can't provide the product you want.

Go to a Dulux or Leyland Trade centre and they can mix up literally any of thousands of colours in the paint you want using a trade base. Far superior application and durability and generally cheaper.
