How do i remove a Honeywell VT117E Radiator Thermostat Cap ?

My daughter some how knocked this off and I 'popped' it back on not realising I had to align it.

Now I can only turn the dail a few cm's

Don't want to force the cap off in case I cause damage or a leak

Any help would be appreciated

Between the chrome plated radiator valve and the plastic head is a large chrome nut unscrew this anti-clockwise.
