Hello all.

I have the last of the architrave waiting to be installed. Just measured up and one side is about 5mm higher than the other. Obviously a 45 degree mitre isn't going to work here. Can anyone give me some tips on how I can achieve good joins?

I have a chop saw, but as far as I know I don't have any tools that will measure the dodgy angles for me.

Obviously I would like to keep it as inexpensive as possible as it is only one door frame to do.

I appreciate any help, thanks a bunch.

Hold your architrave flush with the inside edge of your lining and draw a line on the wall on the outside edge of the architrave. Repeat this for the head and both sides.
Now , use a bevel to connect the inside corner of the lining to the point where the pencil lines intersect, that is your angle to cut and it's as easy to use a handsaw rather than faff about with the chop saw.

Thanks a lot ladylola, that makes perfect sense. Appreciate the help.

Install 5mm higher on short side and level line across, then mitre will all be true 90 degrees.
