Hi
just a quick one how soon can you apply multi-finish to backing plaster to avoid shrinkage. Can it be done immediately, after a couple of hours or should it be left to next day.

Thanks

if using a standard backing, say bonding or browning, it is best left until the plaster has 'darkened'.

you will clearly see the material change from its original mixed colour into a darkened state.

from this darkened state the plaster will then go quite pale as it fully dries. once pale it is leaving it too long and may require additional wetting.

In other words, noseall - a couple of hours.

it can depend upon substrate, temperature and material thickness too.

a couple of hours can be too soon. allowing the material to fully darken is more reliable.

if you skim too soon you will get bubbling occurring. this you do NOT want.

"Especially" onto Bonding coat. Sometimes it can take forever to set properly over the whole area. It's a nightmare trying to get rid of the bubbling and blisters.

Roughcaster.

if you can wait then wait other wise make sure it has gone off touch it is it solid ? still feel wet? if you pva the wall the bonding shouldnt shrink to much if you just wet the wall before applying it may crack and dry to fast
