I about to insulate our 1960s leanto before installing a new kitchen. The walls are being rendered and tanking solution applied. I need a minimum of 25mm insulation. As far as i can tell i have 2 options:
1. dot and dab
2. Studwork

I'm trying to find out which option is best for this situation. The walls are brick but not entirely even and there will cupboards mounted on the wall which makes me think that studwork with insulation between the studs is probably the best approach. Is this right?

(I should probably add that i'm keen to keep the depth to a minimum so as to save on room space).

Thanks

Hi, if building regs are involved go to the celotex insulation calculator. I am studworking an old vicarage with 500mm thick stone walls and to obtain 0.30 I need 50mm in between th studs with 25mm across the whole.

Thanks, yeah the inspector has agreed to go down to 25mm insulation as the room is narrow but i'm trying to work out the best way to fix to the wall. If i need studwork, i may as well get insulation the same depth as studs.

I've just been watching the celotex promo video for their insulated boards. They briefly mention putting cupboards ontop but don't expand on this. Is it possible to fix insulation directly to the wall somehow then mount cupboards ontop or do i really need a stud frame?
Cheers
