How to size a new room radiator?

Can anyone tell me how to determine the size of room radiators?

As a rule of thumb what would you say the BTU requirements per M cubed should be?

I know there are lots of factors, construction of the building, aspect, location etc etc.

The ones in the property vary from 140BTU/hr/m cube to 261BTU/hr/m cube, and it doesn't follow that the highest value is on the northern corner of the house either!

Ok, whats the formula BG use? Giz a clue...

I used the radsize calulator on Whitespirit66's reply and the rooms work out at 175BTU per cubic meter per hour or above...

Thanks guys.... given me something to work on there...

room volume in feet NOT METRIC
multiply L x B x H X 5 then divide by 3412 to give kw size of rad required,
well you did ask for the simple version
 
Or volume of room in metres (width x length x height) = ?m3

?m3 divide by 19 = ?kw at a room temp of 21c (living areas)
?m3 divide by 24 = ?kw at a room temp of 18c (bedrooms etc)

Kirkys formula (multiply by 5) in the post above gives the room temp as 21c, if you require the temp to be 18c then multiply by 4.
