Getting a new shower unit in a corner of the bathroom. Will be approx 1200mm x 1200mm (more or less).

Boiler will be in loft, directly above the bathroom (same wall for the shower), looking for an external thermostatic mixer that can be exposed, don't really want to box the pipes in.

All help and advice gratefully received.

what sort of boiler - or do you mean cylinder (vented or unvented?)

To clarify - you want to have the pipes surface mounted (chrome?) down to the mixer, of which there are a plethora available.

So what do you want help/advice about?
Type of tray? Enclosure? Wet room floor? Drainage? Wall preparation? Tanking? Tiling? Make of shower mixer? Anything in particular?

Thanks for the response, I'm completely new to this

1) the boiler is combi boiler (viessmann 200)

2) Yes, want to have the pipes surface mounted down to the thermostatic mixer. Have had a look at a few on the internet but they all seem to have the in for the mixer concealed, only the flow from the mixer to the shower is exposed. (unless it's implied and being a complete newbie I've not realised this).

Am presuming we would need to tile the area before mounting the pipes?

What sort of make of shower would be suitable?

For speed and convienence, would it be easier to have a waste tray or wet room floor?

:(, DIY is far too complicated!

most mixers can be concealed or exposed just cause the pic has it concealed don't mean it has to be.
thats just for pic purposes as they look better concealed.

yes, since you don't know the overall thickness of the tiles&adhesive yet, nor the distance from the tile surface to the centre of the clips (white placcy ones are 20mm, but this will depend on which ones you use), nor indeed the spacing beween the pipe (depends on many things - whether you intend to bend the pipes, shower fittings etc). So you can't be exactly sure how far out from the wall to drill holes for the pipes to come down from.

Any that are designed for mains pressure - this will be provided within the specifications of the model

For speed and convenience - tray.
