Can anyone point me in the direction of an idiots guide to this heating controller?

We've just moved in to a new house that has a Vaillant ecotec combi boiler and a Drayton Digistat SCR controller. Our previous house had a fairly standard gravity fed system with a Drayton LP522 controller so nothing too complicated!

I can't work out the new system - is it something that you leave 'on' all the time - the boiler appears to have a timer built in but would this also affect hot water availability?

Any clues gratefully received!

This is the controller/digistat we have:

The built-in timer controls the time, the thermostat controls the temperature. It's a combi boiler so there's no control over the hot water, that just comes on when you turn a tap on

Cheers Muggles - I was under the impression that the Drayton stuff had some kind of timing capability or something like different temperatures for different times but if not then at least I can stop us from being cooked at 4am by using the timer!
