Hi all. My old chap just reinstalled my existing gas hob in my new kitchen - he sorted the gas pipework out etc. and did a pressure test before and after (he's a corgi regd. installer). The existing pipework was shabby to say the least (nice tap connector on the hob inlet....) and the hob now seems to have more pressure at the burners - probably because the pipework is no longer full of snots of solder.
However the large burner won't light when it's on full - you have to wind it back a bit, then light it, then turn it up - ie the gas is coming out a bit fast for the spark to light it - is there any adjustment on these? All the other burners work fine and the appliance itself is all good and working - just can't light the biggest one!

HI

you cannot adjust gas inlet pressure to the gas hob.
the spark electrode might need cleanig/adjusting.

FWIW, I have a Hygena gas hob. I have difficulty geting it to light unless the burner is on its lowest setting. Just checked the instructions, they inform me burner should be on its lowest setting before attempting to light it. That explains it then....

(When all else fails, read the instructions. )

Should have said PRE-existing if you want to do semantics
Seem to have changed sex in a couple of days too!
Thanks for your answer Hugh, I'm thinking that if the previous occupier had left a manual for the hob it might well say that - always used to just flick the thing on and light it regardless of the setting - the spark electrode doesn't seem to be adjustable but will try some contact cleaner :)
