Hi
I am going to install my own wooden kitchen worktop and am reasonably clear on the jig/router part but not on how to finish the open (short) end of the surface. I suspect a specialist router bit will be needed - can anyone advise please? The long lengths are squared off but not with a sharp edge. If I just cut it with a circular saw the end is going to be too sharp and will possibly splinter.

Thanks

It's usual to run round the edge with either a 1/4" roundover bit or cut a 45 deg angle about 1/8th" with a block plane and sand it nice and smooth. All depends what you want really. Some like the square edge look, some like the rounded edge. ;) ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for that. Is it normal to make the short cut through the surface with a circular saw or a router?

Also, when I come to the corner with the roundover, do I run it off the edge straight or try to bring it round to soften the 90 degree tip part of the corner?

Cheers
