Hi.

My lounge floor is very cold, feet become icy cold at this time of year.

I've pulled the carpet up and some floorboards too. I was staggered to find that there is about 4 feet between the joists and the ground, and by God was it cold down there!

What this means is I can get in and crawl around below the floor. Is it worth putting polystyrene or wool bewteen the joists holding it in with netting or even hardboard to insulate?

I need warm feet, not to mention the wasted heating bills etc.

Yes, I'd go the rigid insulation route, use as much as you can afford, the thicker it is the less cold your tootsies will be. You can support it with thin nails if you prefer. Make sure its a good tight fit and push it up to the top so it sits directly under the floor boards. Don't block any vents in the walls.

A decent underlay will help too. It sounds like the boards are drafty.
