We have just had a new doorway put in a wall, but the builder got the height of the door wrong and put the lintel too low. As we did not want him to cut the door to make it smaller, and he did not want to take the lintel out (that he had just put in), he has cut the lintel by about 4cm. Is this safe?
Thanks.

What's the total original size of the lintel (length x depth x width) and which dimension has he cut the 4cm from?

I also take it you are talking about a concrete lintel?

No it's not safe. The reinforcement bars at at the bottom of a concrete lintel.

Tell him to change it and do it right. Non of this " I don't want to take it out" nonsense

Are you saying he cut 4cm off the bottom of the lintel??

Did he look like this?

I still can't get over the fact that the builder is dictating to the customer, what he wants to do.

You're paying for it, you get what you want, and you are paying for it to be done correctly.
