Hello all, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this problem.
It appears that the pump on my boiler is faulty. All that I have done suggests that this is the case. The water enters the system through the loop without any problem so the system is full.. The pump is getting the required 240v supplied to it. When I switch on the CH the boiler fires up and then after about a minute, maybe less. The pressure gauge starts to fluctuate and there is a tapping/banging noise just before a hissing sound comes from behind the pump from the air vent cartridge, and the boiler, if left alone will go into it's fault mode. Red light flashing once per second.
Now, my friend has a friend that is an examiner for CORGI. He worked for British Gas for over 10 yrs and then worked for Worcester for a number of years before becoming involved with CORGI, so he knows his stuff. I spoke to him and he said that from what I had told him it would appear to be a faulty pump but obviously without testing it he could not guarantee it. Alas, he doesn't get involved in repairs any more. Anyhow, he told me that on my boiler you can sometimes remove the pump, clean it and then it will run again. I did this and it worked. For a day!
The question is, is it my pump that is faulty or could it be something else,
Please help, it will be getting cold soon!
