Isolator Valves or Not

Hi

I've just been doing a shopping list with the plumber for my bathroom. I suggested the tails for taps which have the isolator valves on them. He said waste of money and that I don't need them.

Surely I need isolator valves, if not on the tails, shouldn't I at least have one on the copper pipe leading up to the tap?

His argument is that if I need to shut the water off, I simply turn my boiler off - is this correct?

As danstace says. Best practice to fit them. But from your post I get the feeling you are referring to flexible connectors with built in isolation valves. I would avoid these and get some decent quality isolation valves. Pegler are good

Yes, flexibles with built in isolation valves.

So am I best to have the isolation valve fitted before the flexi? I would have thought this would be a good idea if I ever want to change my taps or if a washer goes?
