JCB 3C starting after 4 years neglect

I think there was a four cylinder used somewhere, they fitted it into the Standard Vanguard, the first diesel car I ever saw, as it was DI and only did about 2,500 rpm they had to fit an overdrive so you could overtake things, sounded nice though.

Have you got her going yet? If its a later 3C it'll have the Leyland engine.

Nuffield and Ford were used in early machines, before they changed to Leyland. The Leyland was then dropped in favour of Perkins circa 1984, before Perkins was bought by Caterpillar a few years ago. Not wanting to support the competition, JCB have now developed their own diesel engine.
