Hi

I'm re roofing a small (15m2) flat roof, and like the liquid resin / fibregass systems having used them before. However, this time it is for a end terrace, and my neighbour's roof has a mineral felt covering (its an extension that runs the length of the terrace).

Has anyone any experience of joining the two? I'm concerned that the resin won't bond properly to the felt. The felt is fairly new and in good repair.

Many thanks in advance

Danny

Joining epdm or fibreglass to an adjoining felt roof is a ball ache. Butt a lath up to the felt so you are creating a raised divide between the two roofs and pile the grp over the lath so it runs down the otherside onto the neighbours felt.

Thanks for the replies and the link.

MW, do I gather from your post that they don't stick to each other very well, but they don't react badly - either the resin wekened / not setting properly or damage being done to the felt?

I'm not really a fan of mineral felt, but in this case would I be better just going with it for compatibility?

Cheers

The resin will damage the felt as the resin produces heat to set and has a tendency to eat away at it plus it wont seal well. There is a product
polyroof do but is only available to there contractors so no good to you.So in essence you will be damaging the neighbours roof and you could be resonsible for putting it right
