My Karcher 397m+ has developed a fault
Plug it in, turn on, the motor hums quite loudly then blows the fuse in the plug The socket has built in rcd
Could it be the capacitor is faulty

Thanks

has the motor seized? also try it without an extension lead

DO NOT use an extension cable unless 2.5mm CSA conductors. They dont let enough electric through and you motor gets hot. The first thing to go (if your lucky) is the CAPACITOR and often swells of blisters. They are a cylindrical plastic thing with metal connectors at one end. Ive even seen them pop open and ooze out plastic foam ! if the capacitro goes in a special slot then it has to be a genuine karcher part and you can buy these online from sites like sparesgiant.com. If the capacitor sits loose in a terminal box the size is not important only the ratin. Capacitors are rated in uf (micro farads) and the rating on a small karcher may be 25 to 40uf. A patent part supplier will want to know if the capacitor has metal TAGS or a fixed wire and teh uf value.
