Kitchen Units

The wife wants to change the kitchen around and where the old gas hob was she wants to put two units with the new hob over.

Any reason why I cant cut a bit out of the sides of a unit so the hob fits.

Its your units so cut away if you want
It will look odd though with the hob sitting over offset doors or drawers
Some pics may help as there are plenty on here with experience to advise you for a better fix
What wall units would be above the Hob??? Would any of them be encroaching into the Min distances required for safety ???
