Recently put up new wall units in kitchen but her who always knows best says there too low.Is there a standard height between worktop and bottom of units that should be followed or is it 'what suits' goes.

Well, mine are 530mm from top of bottom unit to bottom of top unit (if you get my drift!) and from what I've seen, are about the same as other kitchens I've seen.

500mm. So I was pretty close then! I think the extra 30mm was from the floor subsiding anyway! hehe...

The top height of the wall unit should be in line with the top of oven housing, fridge housing or larder unit etc..........

If you haven't got any of this then put it where you want :!: :!: :!:

In a lot of cases it will depend on the size of tiles you may use. For instance if you are tiling with 6'' tiles then you would set your units just over 18'' above your worktop in order to allow 3 tiles to fit neatly without any cuts or leave just over 20'' if you are using 4'' tiles which will give you 5 course of tiles.Allow a bit for your grout lines and you shouldn't need to make many cuts.
