It's an old 1940s council house living room that I want to lay new laminate flooring down.

It already has a laminate down which looks as though it is layed on just a plastic sheet with the floor under that having floor leveller.

I will leave the plastic down but I'd like to put an underlay on top or the plastic. Would this be ok? If so which underlay would be sufficient? I'm guessing the plastic is down to stop damp.

I think you've sussed it out Sprite. As it's a quarry floor, I'd go for fibre board to give the best insulation.
