I just visited a well-known flooring outlet and asked about laminate flooring suitable for use in a bathroom. I was told that they are ALL suitable and just needed a silicon bead on the joints when fitting. Was also told that if I read the small print on Aqualoc products, it also said the same about the silicon bead.

First time I've ever heard this one, is it correct that I could use any laminate?

No!

Most laminate is not recommended for use in bathrooms, to be honest I would stick to cushion vinyl or products like Karndean or Amtico, that way you know you won't have issues with damp/humidity/moisture

Well known and not so well known companies are there to sell you stuff, simples. ;)
