I have a leather sofa, and the shop we got it in recommended that we use their own-brand "leather food" product to treat it with once in a while, to keep the leather supple and stain-resistant.

However, I seem to remember from somewhere that "leather food" is not the best thing for leather. A friend recommended using a soap sud solution every 6 months or so, and to doublecheck this advice, I've asked around friends and googled, but can't seem to find proper knowledge on the subject :0)

I have young children, so won't use a chemical product, and I like the idea of just using soap suds, but is this good for the leather?

How about saddle soap, is that any good to use?

Any advice?

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone, I'll have a look at it all, and experiment a bit.
