I've recently converted my cylinder into a basic thermal store, and would like to know whether I need to protect the plate against limescale please?

The water here is hard, and the store temperature is 65 degrees. I have a hunch that limescale shouldn't be a problem, but would like to ask the forum.

Personally I think that magnetic "scale reducers" are probably a gimmick, not sure about the electrolytic ones, and something like a combi-mate probably better. But can I get by without?

Thanks folks

Combi-mate will work. Magnetic and electric things will not.

If the heat exchanger is easily accessible, probably just as easy to take it off once a year and soak it in descaler for an hour.

Thanks flameport, I was hoping someone would know the answer :)

The heat exchanger's hidden away at the back for protection, not so easy to get to, so I'll go for the combimate option.
