I have recently replaced the kitchen sink together with the monoblock mixer tap for which the mains and hotwater feeds were turned off.

The spurs that supply the washing machine from beneath the sink were also turned to the OFF position using the usual red and blue isolators to prevent any backflow from the feed pipes, though those feed pipes remained connected, whilst the monoblock had been separated from the top end of the washing machine tees.

Once in position the replacement pipes from the new tap were re-connected to the top end of the washing machine tees and both water feeds turned back on and the mains and hotwater returned to the ON position.

The hot water from the new monoblock tap is much reduced, and the washing machine now takes ages to fill with just a trickle of water which fails even to take away the washing powder.

Anybody want to hazard a guess what is wrong????

Faulty washing machine valve, need to replace.

Mixer tap is for high pressure and yours must be gravity feed.

How is your hot water pressure in all your other taps in your property?

Thanks for your replies guys.

The hot water pressure is quite low in the bathroom and always has been, it has noticeably lessened at the kitchen sink since the new tap however.

The Washing machine was filling perfectly before I turned the valves off and the valves have only been returned to the ON position upon completeion.
Would this cause a problem ???

How did isolate the HW for replacing the tap?

How did isolate the HW for replacing the tap?

Hi,

There is a master valve from the heater tank that shuts off all hot water, both to the kitchen and the bathroom.

I switched off from there. Full normal pressure is restored now to the bath and basin in the bathrom, though as said this has never been very high pressure anyway.

The Kitchen hot tap works but with lower pressure than before. It is useable but slow.

Ok, if the other taps in your house are working fine that means the problem is with the kitchen tap itself. Maybe it is intended for high pressure systems only. Or maybe you got a bit of 'gunk' stuck inside the tap?

The fault with your washing machine sounds like the valve you turned off to isolate it has not opened fully when you turned it back on.

Pressure downstairs should always be better than upstairs on your system.
