m shower

I have an old mira shower with pipes hidden in the wall, only the hot and cold ,on and off showing. The shower head comes out of the wall with a flexible rose on the end.
Problem is the controls leak water and I cant get them off to find the problem I thought they would pull off but no joy. they cover 2screws holding the metal back plate to the wall Any advice please

Pictures H/w of my Mira shower controls Hope they come over alright.
Here's hoping you can tell me how to remove them fom the wall.
Black and grey parts are separate and behind the black part are 2 screws holding the metal base plate to the wall.
Any info gratefully received

the grey part only pushes on a spline, can be a bit of a pig to lever off.

You are a genius mate.
That did the trick. A bit of WD 40 and a couple of blunt chisels gradually eased it off. Thanks so much.
It was a worn washer causing the leak, all put right now.
