Hi,

I have painted an old (and dated) marble fireplace with regular emulsion paint (on top of general purpose primer). Overall this has worked remarkably well however it is beginning to get slightly stained/worn by objects on top of the fireplace and I wondered if anyone could recommend a clear varnish (preferably matte) that would help seal the paint and be more 'wipe clean' than the current painted surface. I should point out the fireplace is not in use so any products do not need to be heat resistant!

Any suggestions welcome!

Many thanks,
Jamie

Any water based matt varnish will do. It is easy to apply and dries in about an hour.
