My current box uses Type 2 M6 MCB's. These are no longer sold, what should I use that will fit my box?

Thanks

M6 is more likely the breaking capacity, need to know the manufacturer and any other information on the old MCBs.

Is an old proteus like this?

Thats my consumer unit! How did you do that?

So, what kind of mcb's can I put in that?

Cheers!

Is it true that Protues is a fake Wylex? What would fit?

They are very similar to the NB range, suspect NB are not available over 40A either??

There are 40A and 30A wylex NB MCBs on ebay (will fit your CU), but I dont think they made anything above 40A.

You shower requires at least a 45A MCB

<edit> Bah!

So.... I need a new consumer unit???????

NOOOOOOOO!!!!! Why can't anything be cheap and simple?

You could get a seperate one way CU with RCD main switch and 45A MCB fitted for your shower in addition to your existing CU.

Your shower will almost certainly require RCD protection too which can't be done with your proteus board.
