Miele dishwasher has started using more salt?

Hi I'm having to refill my salt reservoir far more now for the same number of washes. Is this the the water softener failing?
The setting in the program is set for our hard water and hasn't changed. I'm assuming this is timed so the recharging is not done every cycle? although the recharge light does come on at the start every time at the moment and I don't think it used to do that.
Am I in the right zone??

Sounds like an obvious one but id just check that the salt pot is sealed properly...there is a rubber seal under the lid, make sure thats ok then firmly screw it in place.


Does the washing come out tasting of salt at all?
