I wish to apply a mist coat on an interior unpainted rendered (not plaster skim) wall.

I am aware matt must be used on unpainted plaster, does this also apply to render, as I have a stack of vinyl silk I wouldn't mind using up?

It is no secret that there is a preference within the trade to use a Matt, yet most silks can also be used to mist with good result. Trade Silks along with their retail counterparts will both produce a good result, just follow the instuctions on your product with regard to thinning and I really can't see a problem.

You might not want to use the silk on a newly plastered internal surface but as the dec says on a garage wall, will not cause any problems. Just remember to thin the first coat down quite a bit.
