Mitre corners on oak worktop

Has anyone any experience with using mitre joints across oak worktops. I have no problem with cutting these but am concerned as to whether the worktop may shrink and open the joint. Any info appreciated.

if they are square the norm is to butt join them.....

I agree butt joint, allows expansion.
