I would like to know what the problem is with our car. I was on the way to the coast and all of a sudden the car just died. I had been traveling for a 100 miles when it happened. I have not been able to start it since.
It's got half a tank of diesel in it.

Strange, were there any fault codes or haven't you had them read.

No I have not had them read yet.

Thankyou Peter for taking time for trying to help me.

I came to an roundabout on the Lincoln bypass and it died on me and never started again. The only lights that came up was the normal ones I would see is when I turned the ignition on.

Due to being a tdci it could be anything, maybe electrical

I would suggest getting a good mechanic to come and have a look.

I would suggest no fuel, so the injectors aren't firing, why that would be, I have no idea!

I'm afriad you will have to bite the bullet and get the codes read. A diesel specialist will usually be cheaper than a garage - and they usually know what they are doing.

The only permanent cure is to get a Morris Minor :)

Fuel is going into the injectors but there is no response of firing up.

As for a Morris Minor. I wish the engine systems were as easier to maintain like cars made in those days.

Just another wild guess I'm afraid but if the crank or cam position sensor fails, the engine doesn't know what to do so it packs in. Another symptom is that the management lamp doesn't come on either :(
John :)

The management lamp goes off as normal. It's been tested and the code reader says no dci's to be displayed.

I guess you cracked them open in turn while cranking to check for fuel?

If this is the case, then it sounds like a crank sensor/ecu issue.

must be an odd one if the management light isnt lit
as john suggests the crank sensor may be worth changing as its one thing that does not bring the light on when failing
