what is the name of the board that bridges the cavity and which the roof tiles sit on on a gable end called?

also where does the (under tile) membrane finish at the gable end?

is it ok to use a 25x200 ridge board for my hips and butt the rafters to it?

thanks

thanks catlad for the name.

any idea if it ok to use a 25x200 ridge board as a hip and butt rafters to it. it works out to be 3.9m long? if so i assume i would have to brace it or do i need to use 50x200 graded?

Thanks

Fibre cement soffit strips as mentioned above..

but for gods sake DO NOT copy the overhang on that picture :/ wind would rip that off

The detail is called the verge under-cloak and not referred to as 'soffit' strips.

It can be formed using fibre cement board, roof tiles, bricks etc.

Thanks for your help guys.
