I thought I would start a new thread as I was going off-topic on the other thread (originally it was about battens / counterbattens).

The side roof pitches are 18 degrees, which I appreciate is quite shallow. In the opinion of experienced members on here, would I get away with using natural slate on a pitch like that or am I best sticking to man made slate?

For what it's worth I am down South, nowhere near the coast.

At 18 degrees you will get away with it go for the larger 600mm slates and also use permavent easy slate strips which offer further protection. I learnt the hard way with countless leaks on a 10 degree pitch slate roof. Now used bigger overlap and used permavent easy slate
