New Turf Problem

I laid new turf last week after first laying 4-5" of quality top soil.
When the top soil was laid I rolled it using a very very heavy concrete roller.
The top soil was very firm when I laid the turf.

I have been watering the new turf for a week and its starting to root down into the top soil.

My problem is that I put my foot on the grass today and I sank down by about 1" leaving my footprint in the top soil underneath.

What shall I do as if I start walking on it soon its gonna be really un-level.

Thanks

do not walk on it. you need to leave it at least two weeks. the topsoil still needs to find its own level as it gets compacted by watering etc. Patience is a virtue

I'm no expert but the same thing happened to mine after a few weeks.

It all soon levelled out though. I found myself walking around it on tiptoes for ages. I then realised how daft I was and just got on with it. After nearly two years it's all fine. There's an area that has sunk slightly but it is the most walked on. A bit of top dressing next year and some seed will sort that out though.

Enjoy the lawn!
