Don't roll new turf once it has been watered. This does more harm than good. In fact I never roll it at all - good prep and plenty of water will make it root just fine.
Wait 2 weeks at least (longer if it has not rooted) before cutting - then, only nip off the ends for the first few cuts. Never scalp a lawn down to the roots - you're not trying to produce Augusta-like greens, remember.
