new window cavity lintel, does it need to sit on eng bricks?

Hello, im cutting a hole for a new window. im fitting a cavity lintel above.
my question is, does the lintel need to sit on engineer bricks?

There is currently bricks on the outer skin and blocks on the inner skin of the wall. can it bear 150mm straight onto this ?
