Hi all

Need some thoughts please if possible.

I am putting in a new glass balustrade, base rail, hand rail, newel post etc. in an existing house with staircase already in place.

Floors are concrete slab with Oak flooring over them. Staircase has no string left to notch into the newel.

Seems like my only option is to (as well as screwing to end of string as best I can) drop a threaded rod through the oak and concrete and then up into the core of the newel as far as I can go.

Couple of questions -

a) does anyone have any better ideas than this?

and b) do you have any thoughts on what the best type of anchor is or would be i.e. Poly, PU, Epoxy, Vinylester,
styrene based / non styrene based..............etc. etc. etc. or does it
really not matter and just get the cheapest decent branded one I can get
from screwfix etc. dont have a clue what the difference is.

Many thanks for any help!!!!
