Hi hope someone will be able to help me!! Both of our Night Storage heaters have decided to not work.. The rest of our electrics are OK and the NSH I can do it with I have used an
extension lead and it works OK - so its obviously a problem with the supply ..but now I'm a bit stumped about where to look how to fix etc.. Any ideas? Its getting a bit cold..

Night storage on economy 7, it's not late enough to be active yet. These storage heaters are usually a higher capacity that a 13 amp plug on an extension lead can handle.

have a look at the meter(s) and the timeswitch or teleswitch and consumer unit, post some photos.

Did they work yesterday?

What is NSH?

do you mean the heaters warm up when connected to an extension lead?

You haven't draped towels or washing on top of them, have you?

NSH is just short for night storage heater.. Yes they worked yesterday. No towels etc. Yes when I use a cable (one has a plug the other goes straight into the wall) it heats up. Where would the timeswitch be & what should I look for in the meter box? Cheers for answering BTW!!

13 amp plug might be a bit dodgy but it works OK here. I meant they didn't get heated up LAST night. Any ideas?

Photos of what dude? I've checked the fusebox all OK the meterbox looks same as usual so I dunno..

we haven't seen them, so how do you expect us to spot anything?

OK

can you see a grey (?) box connected to the meter? There should be something providing the time signal to switch the night rate on. Unless it is embedded in that keymeter somehow, which I have not come across before. Usually it is a radio clock that picks up a switching signal.

Please photograph the cables around and between the meter and the CU, may give some clues, to see where they go.

The meter is dated 2008 so probably no new technology.

If you are in an area that can't pick up BBC Radio 4 on long wave, you may not have one.

Some old installations have an actual timeclock with a visible dial.

Well for a start all the circuit breakers are off in the Proteus off peak board! There also needs to be a blank fitted in that spare way!

OK just put the breakers up. What do you mean blank fitted in that spare way? Cheers for the help BTW
