So i wonder could i just replace the diaphram within the valve and the microswitch ? or is it a must the whole valve is replaced.

If you are clever you can just replace the diaphragm.

But the Sime Friendly is far from friendly.

As well as being pretty old!

And will that fix it ? ie is that the only part in the valve that can cause the fault ? yes i've fixed similar stuff on an even older boiler lol as well as installing pumps, thermistors, pilot mechanism etc etc.

No its not the only cause but the most likely.

But if you don't expect to be able to work out how it operates and what is wrong then its better to engage a boiler engineer!
