I am converting a garage into a more habitable space. The existing roof frames give "ceiling joists" at about 520mm centres. Will this be adequate for plasterboarding or will I need to fit noggins to catch the edges of the plasterboards between the joists?

You will be ok with those centres and 12.5mm thick boards.

Odd centres though at 520mm? This means either plenty board wastage or use nogg's to catch the board ends.

Typical centering would be 600mm, 450mm and 400mm.
