This is a rather unusual request.

I've got some 15th century exposed roof timbers that were probably stripped in the 80's. They are quite dry, dull and slightly powdery in places.

Someone mentioned a two-part product. They were good enough to send me samples which is /absolutely/superb. Unfortunately, they are in unlabelled tins - just with "Wood Primer" and "Wood Glaze - May (or Moy Green" written on.

Worse still, there was no identifying info on the postal packing or inside in terms of either the company that supplied it or the product.

It is an oil-based product and, from what I remember it came from Europe with a European sounding name. It was also expensive!

Wouldn't be OSMO oil by any chance. Not used it myself but heard good things about it so bookmarked

'fraid not :( but I've used Osmo on new oak windows and it is very good.

From what I remember I could only the product stocked in two places both of whom tended to specialise in heritage building products. One I think was in the midlands, the other SW England. Both I found on the internet by typing in the product name - but am having no luck using more generic google search terms.

Finally got the name - Aglaia.

If it helps others, the products I was recommended were :

http://naturalpaintsonline.co.uk/PDFs/WOOD PRIMER (0535).PDF

So far the test area looks /really/ good. The wood looks far improved. It has darkened slightly and has a very light sheen. Although it is an oil-based product, there is no stickiness. The dry look and feel has completely gone
