One gang dimmer controlling mixed voltages

Can one fit a single dimmer that controls both 230 v gu10 AND 12 v spots?

I imagine this could shorten the life of a dimmer switch.

Provided the 12v spots are run off a dimmable power supply, yes.

The only issue apart from ensuring the total load on the dimmer is not exceeded is getting an even fade across the 240v and 12v lamps.
