can newly roughcasted walls be painted immediately or do I have to wait?

Due to the weather, moisture in the air etc, could be a problem drying out thoroughly.

I was advised to leave it a few weeks. Horrible job. Looks goid now it's done but I'm not in a rush to do it again.
