Painting over Lining paper

Kitchen ceilings can often contain deposits of grease etc so you really would be wise to wash down with sugar soap and again using warm water to remove any residue, also if the applied paint is silk or sheen you should very lightly sand to dull the shine before you start, also it would'nt hurt to thin your paint a little to aid flow.
