painting over pine varnish

is there any thing on the market that will go over the varnished t&g without having to sand all the varnish off?Thanks in advance.

You should still sand it down to privide a key ... id use dulux super grip or and decent brand of mela mine primer, after you have given it a right good seeing to with the abrasive paper.

Pay particular attention to the sharp edges.

Failing that...all purpose primer had good adhesion qualities as does aluminium wood primer...trouble is they will stink the house out.
