PAINTING TERRACOTTA?

Anyone know what to use when painting terracotta. Ive tried terracotta spray paint-rubbish! Ive tried emulsion and emulsion varnished over, these lasted about a year. I go to a shop that has piles of plants in pots outside all painted in the same colour, they look gorgeous. They arnt glossy, have an emulsion look.

These might work. They are acrylic paint, or you could use limewash with pigment added. They may only last a year, but limewash is incredibly cheap.
